Expanding the network of researchers

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

Typically, the work of most researchers in an investigation is only partially covered. Most of them are co-authors of a researcher that is in the focus of the investigation, or contributors of only several articles to the topic of investigation.

If such “mentioned” authors are of special interest, you can ask Socrates to collect all their publications into the investigation.

From the author facet: open the 3-dots menu of a specific author and click “Enrich author”.
From the author graph: after a specific author is selected, you can either click the “Enrich” button on top of the author information pane on the right-hand-side, or right-click that node and select “Enrich Author”.

Socrates will fetch additional information on one or more authors with a matching name, and will cluster the results such that additional publications by the selected author are added to his/her profile.

As long as the enrichment process is ongoing, the node of that author will be marked with a dashed border line. Once the process is completed, the border of the node will become a thick solid line.

You can enrich multiple authors in one operation: select several authors in the graph (e.g. all co-authors of a specific author), right click on one of them and choose “Enrich N Authors”. Note: this process may take a long time (even hours), depending on the number of authors you asked Socrates to enrich.
